We humans have always predicted the world’s destruction. Stories about the
climate, terror, and pandemics continue to fill our newspapers, television, and
homepages. Everyone has their take on how the world will end—or at least
worsen dramatically. Today it’s considered immature to hope for or believe
in the future. Optimism is naïve. When it comes to the world’s destiny, it’s uncool to be naive.
But why? Is fear of the future unique to our time? And is it really more well
founded now than it was previously? What is it doing to us? How does it affect our children to grow up in what many consider the eve of destruction?
Hope—A Defense of the Future is a poetic and personal account—as well as
a concrete description—of why we must replace fear with hope. In this book
Kristian Leth cancels doomsday and explains why we have more reason to be
optimistic than ever before.
