JENLE HALLUND: MEN CARRY MY COFFIN
A woman recollects her life through the 5 men she loves.
5 men. 5 Chapters
1: The Daddy
2: The Brother
3: The Artist
4: The Footballer
5: The Genius
There are 5 men and some of them will carry her coffin. Some
of them will carry the weight that is her. As she writes, her
life unfolds, one love at a time, one chapter after the other
revealing a truth that has nothing at all to do with reality and
exposes a story of outrageous love.
“He tells me to write, this man they say is a genius. Write
for fuck’s sake. Never stop writing. I sit opposite him in his
office just North of Copenhagen that looks more like a private
library than a work place. He says that what happened to
me is a story. The story of how I ended up here on his sofa, 5
weeks after I tried to commit murder against myself.
I think of the 6 poems I wrote during my twenties. I am now
32. I realize I don’t like writing.
“One page a day, for me” he demands. “Write it for me”. He
thinks it will help me to stay alive. I think it will help me to die.”
